COHISS Tops Drama and Poetry Recital Competition

Call of Hope International School/JHS (COHISS) of New Tafo, Kumasi, won two top awards in the just ended Ghana Education Service (GES)- sponsored inter private junior high schools (JHS) Drama and Poetry competition. The school competed in two of four categories (Drama and Poetry) and took the top honours in both.

Over thirty (30) JHS's in the city of Kumasi took part in the competition. Among some of the schools that participated are Blessing International School, Okomfo Anokye Mini-University, Happy International School, Otumfuo Osei Tutu International School, Mizpah International School, God's Church of Peace Preparatory School, B-Life Preparatory School, First Baptist School, Glory-Vel School, Asawasi Presbyterian International School and others.   COHISS now advances to represent the city of Kumasi Sub-Metro in the Ashanti Region grand final for drama and poetry on Saturday, 9th December 2006 in Obuasi.

It must be recalled that earlier this year, Master Enock Ofosu, a former COHISS pupil and now attending Prempeh College, won a second (2nd) place position
in a regional essay competition that included over 100 participants.

Mr. Stephen Gyamfi, the managing director of the school expressed his delight by praising the pupils who represented the school.  He commented that, "Our pupils have consistently shown great academic discipline and achievement by winning numerous city-wide academic competitions in disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, French and now Drama.  It is no wonder that COHISS is earned its rightful position as one of the top junior secondary schools academically in the city of Kumasi."
