Call of Hope International School (COHISS) of New Tafo came first among junior secondary schools in the Kumasi Metropolitan Inter-Private Schools Quiz Competition held on 19th March, 2004 in Kumasi. Each school was represented by two students who were tested on their knowledge in Ghana Education Service's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)-level English, Mathematics, General Science, Religious/Moral Studies and Pre-Technical. COHISS obtained 108, with Noble Prince International, Okomfo Anokye International, and Blessing International scoring 106, 99 and 90 points respectively. St. Paul International and Kings International were no show. First and second place winners would soon meet and compete for District-wide quiz competition on 28th May, 2004. According Mr. Stephen Gyamfi, Managing Director of the school, "COHISS is quickly emerging as one of the best junior secondary schools in Kumasi ." He continues, "with the arrival of over 16 new Pentium III computers, the establishment of top-of-the-line computer lab, hiring of experienced and dedicated teachers, and the rejuvenation of the school's PTA, the success we are currently seeing is just the beginning." Mr. Emmanuel Osei-Kwaku, headmaster of the school, congratulated all students who participated in the competition, especially Justice Baidoo and Mary Portial Addae who represented COHISS. Other members of the COHISS team include Esther Akoto Yeboah, Owusu Mmireku, Alhaji Seidu and Akosua Anima Amoah. "The credit of our success goes to our administrators, fine teaching staff, students and parents.
