COHISS candidates excelled in the just released Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). The school's pioneer JHS graduates (17 candidates) not only achieved 100 percent pass rate, but also scored 44 and 56 percent aggregates 06-10 and 11-20 respectively. 10 out of 17 candidates earned distinction. For detailed results, CLICK>> COHISS' achievement is remarkable in light of the somewhat poor performance by the over 278,000 candidates that sat for the examination. According to WAEC, of the 278,396 candidates that sat for the examination, 170,357 candidates representing 61 percent achieved aggregate 06-30 with 6,260 candidates (2 percent) obtaining aggregate 06. Aggregate 30 is the cut-off point for selection of candidates into various programmes in the Senior Secondary Schools and Technical Institutions. The breakdown of the results is as follows: 19,042 candidates, 7 percent had aggregate 06-10; 55,804 candidates 20 percent had aggregate 11-20, and 95,511 candidates 34 percent had aggregate 21-30. A delighted Mr. Emmanuel Osei-Kwaku, headmaster of COHISS remarked, "Our current academic successes are greatly due to the commitment of the management team, dedicated teaching staff, revitalized PTA and most importantly, the hard work and discipline of our students. We expect our successive students to perform even better." Mr. Stephen Gyamfi, Managing Director of the school, commented "COHISS has indeed proven itself as one of the most academically promising International Schools in Kumasi ." He continues, "the recent completion of new classrooms, academic facility, 14-seat Internet-based computer lab, and improvements in the overall infrastructure attest to the management's commitment to providing our students quality education second to none. Our goal is not to become of one the elite schools in Kumasi but among the best in the nation." Mr. Gyamfi congratulated the management team, PTA, teachers and graduates, especially Miss Akosua Anima Amoah, the recipient of Best Graduating Student Award.
